District 31 & Lawrence County Commission Candidate Forum

The Spearfish Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to join them for the District 31 and Lawrence County Commissioner Candidate Forums slated for Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the High Plains Western Heritage Center. The event will begin with the District 31 Candidate Forum followed by the County Commission Forum.
 
All candidates for the District 31 State Legislature and Lawrence County Commission have been invited to participate. The vote on the June 7^th ballot will determine which three candidates will represent District 31 in State Legislature for the next two years. The candidates for House are Incumbent Scott Odenbach (R), Incumbent Mary Fitzgerald (R), and Mistie Caldwell (R). Candidates for District 31 Senate are Randy Deibert (R) and Ron Moeller (R).
 
For Lawrence County Commission, the June 7^th ballot will determine which three Republican candidates will move forward to the November 8^th election with Democrat Sherry Bea Smith. Candidates on the June 7^th ballot include Incumbent Brandon Flanagan, Incumbent Richard Sleep, Eric Jennings, Ashley Kurtenbach, Delia Prezkuta, and Michael Whalen.
 
The public can submit questions for the forum in advance by emailing director@spearfishchamber.org. The public can also submit questions in written form at the event, which will then be read by the moderator to the candidates as time allows.
 
To cast your vote on June 7^th for either District 31 or County Commission, you must be a registered Republican in Lawrence County. Ballots for all Parties will include Constitutional Amendment C which would require a 60 percent vote for approval of ballot measures imposing new taxes or fees.
 
The voter registration deadline for this election is May 23, 2022. Registration may be completed at the Lawrence County Auditor's office and the City of Spearfish Finance office. Absentee voting is available at the Lawrence County Auditor’s office from Friday, April 22 through the close of business on Monday, June 6, 2022. Auditor’s office staff will be available at the Spearfish City Hall for absentee voting from May 23 through June 6, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
