The 22nd Annual Spearfish 4th of July Parade will be held Monday, July 4th at 12:00 p.m. with a B-1 Bomber Flyover shortly after the start of the parade.
The parade committee is pleased to announce that Spearfish Mayor John Senden will be honored as the Parade Marshall for the 22nd Annual Spearfish 4th of July Parade. Joining Mayor Senden in the parade will be his wife, Mayoress Linda Senden.
Linda and John have been married for 38 years and raised all four of their grown children in Spearfish. John has been active in serving his community his entire working life. Over the past thirty years in Spearfish, he has served the Yellow Jacket Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, Spearfish Economic Development, CASA, Spartan Booster Club, Young Life, Downtown Business Improvement District, Lawrence County Housing and Redevelopment as well as coaching many youth sports teams as his children were growing up.
Since his retirement after 44 years in banking, John continues to teach and lead financial literacy classes as he has for over 15 years and operates a part-time financial coaching business. John firmly believes in the importance of investing in faith, family, neighbors, and community.
Gene & Yvonne Ficek of Gene’s Lock Shop began the 4th of July Parade in 2000 to bring the community together on this important day in American history. Countryside Church, the Spearfish Downtown Business Association, and the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to continue the tradition. Support is also given by the City of Spearfish and the Spearfish Police Department.
“The desire to continue on with the event Gene & Yvonne created so many years ago is truly a community effort,” commented Melissa Barth, Spearfish Chamber of Commerce.
The parade will line up in the high school parking lot then head south on North Avenue through downtown Spearfish, disseminating at Grant Street. To register for the parade or for more information, contact the Chamber at 642-2626 or visit www.SpearfishChamber.org.
